Scholarships

Through the generosity of individuals, community organizations and businesses that believe in the importance of education the Scott Community Foundation has the priviledge of awarding more than $50,000 in local scholarships to bright, young, and promising students.

Each scholarship program has its own application process and selection criteria. Applications for most programs are available in the Spring of each year. Please note, not all programs award scholarships every year.

Woodrow and Loyal Hoffman Scholarships

Two $5,000 scholarships awarded to the top male and top female students graduating from Scott Community High School (SCHS). Scholars are selected by the Scott Community Foundation Board based on a committee of community volunteers' recommendation and interviews with the students. Selection criteria include academic achievement, academic and career goals, communication skills, community involvement, and high school involvement. Recipients must attend a postsecondary institution located in the State of Kansas.

Raymond and Hildred Armantrout Scholarships

Two $4,000 scholarships awarded to students graduating from SCHS. A committee of SCHS faculty and staff recommend scholarship recipients based on the students' overall high school career.

Everett Hueftle Scholarships

Two (one male, one female) $1,500 scholarships and six $1,000 scholarships awarded to students graduating from SCHS. A committee of community volunteers recommend scholarship recipients. Selection criteria include academic achievement, academic and career goals, communication skills, community involvement, and high school involvement.

Ruby Wilkens Music Scholarship

One $1,000 scholarship awarded to a student graduating from Scott Community High School majoring in music. A committee of community volunteers recommends scholarship recipient.

Ralph and Bessie Gropp Scholarships

Ralph and Bessie Gropp Scholarship is available to Greeley, Wichita, or Kearny County graduating high school seniors only:

Three scholarships awarded to students graduating from Western Kansas High Schools located in counties where the Gropp family farmed. This Scholarship is made available by the family of Ralph and Bessie Gropp in honor and response to their commitment to the needs of Western Kansas. Ralph & Bessie Gropp felt fortunate to have received excellent educational and medical services for themselves and their families. It was their wish to assist qualified students in the pursuit of careers in Education or Medicine.

The Duff Family Scholarship

One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a current Scott County resident or SCHS alumni who is continuing their education. A committee of community volunteers recommend the scholarship recipient. Selection criteria include academic achievement, academic and career goals, communication skills and community involvement.

Continuing Education Scholarships

Seven $1,000 scholarships awarded through the Everett Hueftle Scholarship Fund to current Scott County Residents and SCHS alumni. A committee of community volunteers recommend scholarship recipients. Selection criteria include academic achievement, academic and career goals, communication skills, and community involvement.

The Beckman Family Scholarship

One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a current Scott County resident or SCHS alumni who is continuing their education. Applicant must have been a member of Scott County 4-H through high school graduation. A committee of community volunteers recommend scholarship recipients. Selection criteria include academic achievement, academic and career goals, communication skills, and community involvement.

Glenn Novak Scholarship

A $500 Post-Secondary Scholarship will be awarded to one student who is attending College or University with the intent of obtaining a degree in an agricultural or animal sciences related field. The student must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.00 on a 4.00 scale. A committee of community volunteers will recommend the scholarship recipient. Selection criteria includes academic achievement, academic and college major goals, community involvement and high school involvement.

Albert & Dee Hoeme Scholarship Fund

A $1,000 Post-Secondary Scholarship will be awarded to one Scott Community High School senior who is attending college or university. Applying student must have a 2.0 or higher grade point average.

Brett K. Todd Scholarship

A $400 Post-Secondary Scholarship for any high school senior graduating from Scott Community High School who will be attending a college, university or technical school to pursue a mechanics and/or welding degree.

Animal Health International Scholarship

A $500 Post-Secondary Scholarship for any high school senior graduating from Scott Community High School who is entering an agriculture or animal health related field of study.

SC College Fund

A $500 Scholarship for any high school senior graduating from Scott Community High School who will be pursuing a degree in Business.

Security State Bank Scholarship

A $500 Scholarship awarded to any high school senior graduating from Scott Community High School. This scholarship is awarded based on the scholarship committee's scores for community involvement.
